Petrol has crossed Rs. 112/litre mark in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar

After a brief hiatus of one day, oil retailers again increased fuel prices on Saturday across India. Petrol prices are already above the ₹ 100-mark across six metro cities while diesel retails at an all-time high. With the latest hike, petrol has now surpassed the psychological mark of ₹ 100 per litre in few more cities. Petrol prices in Delhi jumped by 35 paise from ₹ 100.56 a litre to ₹ 100.91 a litre while diesel is priced at ₹ 89.88 a litre, after a hike of 26 paise. In India's financial capital Mumbai, petrol is inching towards ₹ 107-mark, currently priced at ₹ 106.93 a litre while diesel rates have increased to ₹ 97.46 per litre.

In Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar, petrol has breached ₹ 112-mark currently retails at ₹ 112.24 a litre while diesel soared to ₹ 103.15 per litre.

Here are the petrol and diesel prices across six major metro cities on July 10, 2021:

Petrol in Chennai now costs ₹ 101.67 a litre while diesel retails at ₹ 94.39 a litre. Fuel rates in Bengaluru have jumped to ₹ 104.29 a litre and ₹ 95.26 a litre, respectively. Petrol rates in Kolkata breached ₹ 101-mark after a hike of 39 paise to ₹ 101.01 a litre. Diesel now costs ₹ 92.97 a litre. In Hyderabad, petrol currently retails at ₹ 104.86 a litre, while diesel is priced at ₹ 97.96 a litre.

This is the seventh hike this month that took fuel rates to new all-time highs. Petrol has now breached the ₹ 100-mark in Jammu, retailing at ₹ 100.21 per litre while diesel costs ₹ 90.44 per litre. Presently, petrol prices are above ₹ 100 a litre mark in 18 states and UTs - Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Bihar, Nagaland, Sikkim and West Bengal.

Fuel prices differ from state to state, which depends on the value-added tax (VAT) levied by the state government.

Fuel prices are the most expensive in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar where petrol currently stands at ₹ 112.24 per litre, while diesel stands at ₹ 103.15 a litre. In Madhya Pradesh's Rewa and Anuppur districts, petrol prices on Saturday touched ₹ 111.82 a litre and ₹ 111.82 a litre, respectively. Diesel, on the other hand, in these districts reached ₹ 100.72 a litre and ₹ 101.06 a litre, respectively. Customers in the Parbhani district of Maharashtra will now have to pay ₹ 109.24 a litre and ₹ 98.19 a litre for petrol and diesel, respectively.
