Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) is the latest manufacturer set to join the micro SUV segment with the launch of the Exter tomorrow, i.e. July 10, 2023. The Exter will go on to become the most affordable and smallest Hyundai SUV in India upon arrival, sitting below the Venue in the portfolio. We already know that it will serve as a direct rival to the likes of Citroen C3 as well as the Tata Punch.

Hyundai has already revealed the external, as well as internal design of the car.

It will feature a split headlamp setup at the front, with H shaped LED DRLs. The micro SUV features an overall boxy design, with modern styling elements. On the inside, the Exter features a dual digital display setup consisting of an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment screen as well as a fully-digital instrument cluster.
The Exter is based on the same platform as the Grand i10 NIOS as well as the Aura, and also borrows their cabin layout. Apart from the dual digital displays, the Exter will pack cruise control, an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, steering-mounted controls, rear AC vents and so on. Powering the Exter will be a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine making 83 PS of maximum power and 113 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and an optional AMT. Hyundai will also be offering an optional CNG kit with the SUV, which will be available with the manual gearbox as standard. As for the price, the Hyundai Exter is expected to carry a starting price of around Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom).
